5 books I’ll read at least twice.

As a disclaimer I need to mention that I’m in no way affiliated to the authors or the books itself. It’s just some really good books I got a tip from someone or discovered them somewhere. As I really enjoyed them… you might too. Here we go in no particular order:

Storynomics - Robert MCKee

A great insight on how to construct ads and marketing campaigns on real storytelling. Explaining why and how a story works and why it doesn’t . This book gives an insight on how the big brands attack the market and why they succeed. The principle, once understood, are easy to implement and will change your vision on storytelling. It’s a game changer in the ad & marketing world. To be heard through all the noise and penetrate ad blocks you’ll need strong storytelling in the future. This book will help you get there.

The subtle Art of not giving a F*ck: A counterintuitive approach to living - Mark Manson

The title says it all. Really interesting read. See things that matter to yourself in a different perspective. And realize that a lot of stuff is just not as important as it seems. Sometimes it’s just better not giving a F*ck!

Steal like an Artist/Show your work/Keep going - Austin Kleon

Not 1 but 3 books from him on my list :). They give wonderful insights of how you can spark your own creative mind. It’s a fast out of the box read with hand drawn illustrations by him. Go for it!

Save the Cat - Blake Snyder

If you just want to read one single book about how to write a screenplay… it’s this one! He breaks down the 3 act structure into his now legendary 15 beats. This book has changed the way writers craft their stories. Here you find the Blake Snyder Beat Sheet. The book is an easy and fast read. I have read it at least 3 times so far. If you memorise and understand the 15 beats no movie will ever be the same.

Beat by Beat - Todd Klick

This one goes a step further than Save the Cat. It compares Avengers, James Bond, Hangover, Gone Girls, the Conjuring and a Beautiful Mind minute by minute. And guess what. They have the same structure for each and every minute. Todd analyzed over 400 successful movies and they are all the same. Hard to believe… I know… but here is the bulletproof truth.
